2010 Holiday Gift Guide

by Lemmonex on November 28, 2010

Right out of the gate, I need to admit that this isn’t going to be a holiday gift guide for everyone. Also, I swear I asked for books and the such, but that kind of stuff isn’t going to be included here. This is just a lighthearted list of delightful material goods I adore and I think you might as well. This is straight up fluffery and I am ok with it.

So, in no special order here they are:

Deborah Lippman Boom Boom Pow: $20 is a lot of money for a bottle of nail polish. I would never argue that. But Lippman’s formulas are so lovely and this has to be one of the best gold glitters I have ever seen. Christmas is for over the top gifts and this falls snugly in that category. Let’s just ignore that this color is named after a Black Eyed Peas song, shall we? Moving along…

Dreamery Studio Vintage Art Book Prints: I am enamored of this Etsy shop. The concept is really simple; images are drawn and painted over old book pages to a whimsical effect. I have been looking for art for my place since I moved in this past May and I think I have finally found some I can commit to. At $8.50 a piece, they are a steal; who said art has to cost thousands of dollars? I am particularly partial to Anatomical Heart 2, Hummingbird, Peacock, and Hot Air Balloon Flying Ship. I think they would go great together arranged as a set.

NKOTBSB Tickets: I suppose I should be ashamed of how much I want to see them in concert, but I am unabashedly not. Synchronized dancing? Vocal battles? More cheesiness than a dairy farm? Yes, please, yes.

Hive and Honey Multi Layer Mixed Metal Necklace: Edgy, yet still feminine. I really like a whole lot of Hive and Honey, but I think this one is the bees knees. Ahem.

Aqua Swash Personalized Stationary: My mother taught us manners and I am a prolific thank you card writer. It is the civilized thing to do. I like these flat cards in blue. Not too girly, but still soft. Don’t forget to thank your grandmother this year! Forget grandma actually; that friend who always has to carry you home probably deserves one more.

Gorjana Tress Stackable Ring: I am looking for a new every day ring and this one fits the bill perfectly. It isn’t over the top but still has some personality and Gorjana is a reputable brand. I will take it in a size 6 in silver, please.

Calyx by Prescriptives: About a year ago, the Prescriptives line of cosmetics folded and I panicked. Calyx has been my scent for almost ten years. I sometimes try something new, but I always come crawling back. It is citrusy and light, but the undertones of sandalwood keep it from smelling dowdy. I am always complimented on it. Luckily, though the line folded, Calyx has enough of a following that it is still being produced. You can get it at Macy’s and Nordstrom’s. Praise be!

Steady Temp Double Wall Wine Glasses: True story: my favorite wine glass is an old jelly jar. I just got so sick of breaking my glasses with stems. Seeing as I am almost 30 years old, it is time to get big girl glasses. I love how these have the suspended visual and how they are double insulated to control temp. The jelly jar had a good run.

Michael Kors ‘Runaway’ Rose Gold Watch: I shared this a few months back but my love for this watch carries on. I just adore the style and the size and the rose gold. I literally stare at this watch when I am having a bad day. I need help. But, I mean, it is gorgeous. You surely cannot blame me.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Flash Shapeshifter Satchel: Yanno how I said this list was in to particular order? I lied. I saved the best for last. I am obsessed with this bag. Straight up obsessed. I would buy it now if I had the funds, but I don’t think I can skip a gift for my niece because I have a deep lust for a hand bag. I plan on purchasing this for myself for a 30th birthday gift sometime in January. I worry more than is socially acceptable that it is going to be off the market by that time. I need real problems.

You know how we never have much in common as far as style goes, save loving a lot of black? THIS WISHLIST IS DIVINE. I’m enamored of basically every single bit of it, even that nail polish, which I wouldn’t wear because I don’t do nail polish, but which I would certainly compliment someone else one. And THOSE ETSY PRINTS. I’m buying one for a friend immediately.

jelly jars forever. I’m all about stemless, because I am still not old enough to have nice things, as evidenced by my single remaining champagne flute

The polish is worth twenty for the name alone.

NKOTBSB tickets… YES. I would KILL for those. Well, not a person, but you know, an unloved pet. Like a goldfish. I would kill a goldfish to see that show. As long as it wasn’t a particularly charming goldfish.

Oh my god, I would slap a baby for NKOTBSB tickets. However, I’ll almost certainly be buying my own, as my parents are paying for me to get new ink for Christmas (never thought I’d see THAT day). Also, ZOMG looove the prints. My favorite Etsy store for wall art was http://www.etsy.com/shop/theblackapple <-that one, but it might have competition now.
