Foodie Potluck Redux

by Lemmonex on September 4, 2008

I trotted out my boots and painted my nails navy this weekend. Adios sandals. Goodbye pastels. I am so sick of looking at you.

I am also ready for the homey soups and warming roasts of the fall and winter, but before we welcome cold weather foods with open arms, I say we give summer a proper send off.

On Saturday, October 11 from 4-7, stop by a foodie picnic hosted by the wonderful Barbara at Looking2live and yours truly.

Swing on by Grove #1 in Rock Creek Park (it is metro accessible via Adams Morgan) with a homemade dish for 8 to share. We aren’t going to assign dishes, but give us an idea if you can. Though a “chocolate cake picnic” sounds pretty awesome to me, I think it would be best to avoid a sugar crash.

We will provide plates, utensils, cups, and napkins. Please bring your own beverages.

If you are a food blogger (or write about food on the regular), we are looking forward to meeting you. You can RSVP by commenting or emailing me at culinarycouture (at) gmail (dot) com.

Perhaps some ladybugs will join? A girl can dream.

Yes, bring on the ladybugs! I am looking forward to our picnic in the park. If it’s anything like the last Blogger potluck, it will be fantastic! I hope a couple of FOOD Bloggers who have since moved away will consider coming back for a visit (you know who you are!)

If BettyJoan made an appearance, there would be tears of joy. No lie.

ZOMG! I could have written this post! I am so ready for cool autumn days, boots, scarves, and deep dark nail polish. Zach & I have also been putting together fall/winter menus over the past week (i.e.: drooling at the thought of all the yummy things we want to eat…..soup, stews, roasts, casseroles, OH MY!). Sadly, we are out of town the weekend of your party, but we shall overcome. I mean….get together soon ;)

Sadness! I love your food porn Friday’s. You will be missed.

I’ll bring the moose stew! I dare anyone to bring anything else, eastern liberal elite plutocrats!

If food bloggers love America, they will skin the moose themselves.

Will there be talk about the high price of furniture and rugs, and fire insurance for ladybugs?

Luckily, Smokey the Bear will be around in case a fire starts.

Well, that IS Columbus Day weekend…who wants to fund my cameo appearance? :-)

I will pitch in!! You can sleep with me; we will spoon.

I’m going to start a food blog immediately! It will be more like a “what I ate today” journal, but close enough.

Sometimes those “what I ate journals” scare me…and make me want to eat more.

You know I’m not a foodie (and even if I were, I’ll be away) but this sounds so fun! If you ever ever ever have a cake get-together, I want to be part of it! I bake, I really do!

I feel a “cake get together” plot being hatched….

I’m just looking for Food Blogger street cred, so that I may attend and enjoy the creations of those with palates and cooking skills greater than mine.

Once the potluck is over, so is my *food blog*.

Make chocolate cake in a cup and viola, a food blogger in mere moments.

Weird coincidence? I was cleaning out my closet and found a mix tape I made in college (!) entitled, “Lady Bug Picnic”. Random! I haven’t heard that song in years.. thank you.

We are on the same psychic wavelength! Gotta love Sesame Street.

I hope the proceedings will be documented? I want lots of food porn, thank you.

Oh, you know it.

I know whatcha mean about changing the wardrobe over. I am bored with my tank tops and flip flops. Ready for denim jeans and tall boots! Bring on fall. P.S. If I blogged about food once, does that qualify me for the potluck? If not, I will blog about food from now until October 11!

I just love the look of boots and dark, smokey make-up (I didn it last weekend…I couldn’t stop it) and jeans.

Sure! Why not.

~le sigh~ I so wish at this moment that I lived on the East coast. It’s so lonely out here in the midwest. No one here seems to appreciate food unless it’s fried or smothered in grease (not like that’s a bad thing, but still). Partaking in your food picnic is just what my inner foodie needs! I will be thinking about all that glorious food. *Drooling*

We wish we could have you! Can you fry something and then smother it in grease? I once had these things called curly fry nachos…That is probably a 1-2 punch.

Never had curly fry nachos, but we do have… mmmmm nachos. Oh wait, I got distracted. Anyway, we do have these things called toasted ravioli that are fried and then smothered in marinara sauce. Think that’ll do?

Oh, yeah, that will do. Tasty.

Curly nachos are just what you think: curly fries covered with salsa, black beans, sour cream, guacamole, cheez-whiz, jalapenos and tomatoes. My friend Bawstin always wants to order them and I always say no. About three drinks in, I always give in to his pleas. That jerk.

(Sigh) If you didn’t to come to my birthday, you could have just said so. Whore.

<3

Yes, I am a whore, but a whore who will be attending your birthday, albeit a bit late.

Damn skippy.

On both counts.

Does the discussion of gin and tonic Jell-O shooters count as food blogging?

I have to sleep on that one.

Wish I could go. You’re welcome to come down to TN for a crash course in good ol’ Southern cooking…

Will there be grits? Ribs? Then, yes please…

Shannon September 5, 2008 at 9:17 am

Don’t you mean you have to spoon on that one?

So you post this here and yet I’m not invited?! Fine, no rum chocolate mousse for you.

You will be there in spirit, SD.
