Today, I am 27-years-old.

If you would have asked me two years ago what my life would be like entering my 28th year, I would have given you a very different answer from today’s reality. I am the happiest I have ever been.

I have amazing friends who love me because of, not in spite of, all my quirks and flaws. I no longer feeling like I am waging a war against my body, merely a calm negotiation. I’ve learned a few lessons, though I am now smart enough to know I have many more to learn. My arsenal of kitchen gadgetry is commendable, as is my shoe collection. I’ve finally accepted that I will never be graceful or demure, but also realize those kind of people don’t appeal to me anyway.

Saturday night I put on “the dress” and felt truly loved as innumerable friends showed up to the birthday party I threw with one of my best, funniest, smartest, supportive and truest friends. I am a lucky girl.
